OUR MISSION

To bring the wonders of modern veterinary medicine to our community to help keep your loved ones healthy and long lived.

HOW WE PRACTICE

  • We provide quality affordable care suited to your circumstances.

  • We focus on preventative medicine for pets of all ages.

  • We take clients through all care in detail for full understanding of what we do.

  • We always operate with the philosophy of: Your Pet. Your decision.

  • We pride ourselves on building a strong and friendly relationship with our clients.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

Each of our veterinary surgeon and nursing team members embarked on their lengthy study and careers in this profession to pursue their passion for animal health. We believe strongly in our staff's passion and operate with animal welfare and long term care as the most important factors when we care for your animals.

We understand that modern veterinary medicine means there are more options to navigate. We help you make the right decision for your pet and your circumstances.

Every year each attend continuing education courses and seminars to keep up-to-date with advances in veterinary science. We also embark on laboratory upgrades and the addition of new equipment in the hospitals as often as we can.

OUR HISTORY SINCE 1995 & 1948

We are proud to have a long history of serving the community and passing on knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm from generation to generation. Our history is combined with that of Bankstown Vet Hospital reaching as far back as 1948.

BOUNDARY ROAD VETERINARY HOSPITAL

Boundary Road Veterinary Hospital was established in 1995 by Dr Michael Azzopardi and Dr Arthur Lee. For personal reasons they decided to pursue other avenues overseas and in 2002 passed the hospital to Dr David Butcher and Dr Jenny Myers.

After 11 years Dr Butcher and Dr Myers passed the Hospital together with Bankstown Veterinary Hospital to Dr Bryant Nguyen.

Bryant brings with him a wealth of knowledge and 14 years of experience as a Veterinarian in the Southern Sydney region. Bryant practiced at Croydon Park Veterinary Clinic for 10 years and before that at the Caringbah / Miranda / Connels Point multi-clinic practice as well as Menai Veterinary Hospital where he started. Click here to meet Bryant and all of our staff.

Boundary Road Vet Hospital won the Georges River Local Business Award for Pet Care in 2021 and 2018.

We also have a second hospital in Bankstown and our staff work from both locations, benefiting from the increased experience this brings.

BANKSTOWN VETERINARY HOSPITAL: BANKSTOWN'S FIRST VET

2018 canterbury bankstown winners

Bankstown Veterinary Hospital was established in 1948 by Dr John Buckingham, a Sydney University graduate. The area became a growth region thanks to Bankstown Airport which began its' life as an airforce base. Dr Buckingham and his family owned much of the land where the current hospital is located and made Marshall Street both their home and a place to build the hospital. The grounds included a stable, with horses and farm animals part of the clientele.

In post-war Sydney growing Bankstown needed a vet hospital and Dr John Buckingham started it all

In 1962 Dr Buckingham retired and sold the practice to Dr George Pulver & Dr Warwick Handel who owned and ran the Hospital for another 31 successful years during which the building was enlarged.

In 1993 Dr Pulver and Dr Handel retired and sold the hospital to Dr Peter Nicholl, Dr Jennifer Myers & Dr David Butcher. Dr Peter Nicholl also worked for 2UE as their radio vet and struck out on his own to purchase another hospital in the southern suburbs. During this time Marshall Street, where the hospital is located, became famous for another reason; as the former home of Labor Prime Minister Paul Keating.

In 2013 Dr Butcher, having been retired for several years and Dr Myers sold the Hospital to Dr Bryant Nguyen. Since Dr Nguyen took the mantle we have won the local Business award in 2023, 2021, 2018, 2016 and 2015.
